Emma Thomson
Previously Commissioning Editor at respected guidebook publisher Bradt Travel Guides, Emma has been a freelance travel journalist for more than a decade and in that time has picked up several awards and, happily, been named BGTW Travel Writer of the Year twice. She’s spoken as a travel expert at the Royal Geographical Society, the Frontline Club and National Geographic headquarters in Washington DC and her Scottish lilt can occasionally be heard on BBC’s From Our Own Correspondent. She has worked with Discover the World on several assignments, including an Arctic Rail trip from London to northern Sweden and Norway’s undiscovered Vesteralen archipelago. She’s passionate about introducing travellers to places away from the standard hotspots, so we can spread the benefits of tourism more evenly.
