Simon Lister

Author

Simon Lister is an award-winning British author who writes about West Indian cricket. His first book was 'Supercat' - the authorised biography of the legendary captain, Sir Clive Lloyd.

In 2015 he wrote 'Fire in Babylon', inspired by the Stevan Riley movie, which was short-listed for the William Hill prize and won the MCC/Cricket Society book of the year award. The Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack declared it was certain that 'Fire in Babylon' would have been ‘greatly admired’ by the master of Caribbean cricket-writing, CLR James. ESPNcricinfo called it a ‘superb work of non-fiction with the emotional power of a novel.'

In 2024, Lister published 'Worrell - the brief but brilliant life of a Caribbean cricket pioneer'. This was the definitive account of Frank Worrell, the first permanent Black captain of the West Indies side. The doyenne of West Indian cricket history, Clem Seecharan, described Lister’s book as ‘a biography of distinction - arguably the best on a West Indian cricketer’.
